It is the question almost every couple asks me before anything else. When is the best time to get married in Ibiza? They are usually thinking about weather, and rightly so. But after years of filming weddings across every month the island offers a celebration, I can tell you that the answer is about so much more than temperature. It is about the quality of the light, the length of the day, the energy of the island, the colour of the landscape, and how all of those things will look when you watch your wedding content years from now. Ibiza is a western facing island in the Mediterranean, which gives it some of the most generous golden light in Europe. But that light behaves very differently in May than it does in August, and the island itself transforms completely from one season to the next. This is my honest, month by month guide, written from behind the camera.

If you want to understand why I obsess over timing so much, read my piece on golden hour at Ibiza weddings. The month you choose decides exactly when that golden window opens.

The Ibiza Wedding Season at a Glance

The main wedding season in Ibiza runs from May to October. These are the months when the weather is reliably warm, the venues are fully open, and the island is alive with energy. Within that window, every month has its own personality. May and June bring fresh green landscapes and gentle warmth. July and August deliver intense heat, long days, and the famous Ibiza buzz. September offers the rare combination of warm sea, softer light, and slightly calmer surroundings. October closes the season with golden fields and a romantic, reflective mood. Outside that window, from November to April, the island slows down, but it does not disappear. Winter weddings here have a quiet, dramatic beauty that very few couples ever discover. The key is matching the season to the kind of celebration, and the kind of content, you genuinely want.

May: The Island Wakes Up

May is one of my favourite months to film, and it is wonderfully underrated. After the winter rains, the countryside is at its greenest. Wildflowers cover the fields, the almond and fig trees are in full leaf, and everything feels fresh and new. Temperatures are comfortable, usually in the low to mid twenties, which means your guests stay relaxed and nobody is wilting in the heat. For content, this is gold. Soft skin tones, no harsh midday glare, and landscapes that look lush rather than sun bleached. The light has a clarity in May that later summer months lose to heat haze. The trade off is that the sea is still cool for swimming and some beach clubs are only just opening, so if a barefoot ocean dip is part of your vision, keep that in mind. But for a green, gentle, romantic wedding with beautiful light, May is hard to beat.

June: Long Days and Soft Light

June might be the most balanced month of the entire year for an Ibiza wedding. The days are at their longest, with the sun not setting until close to nine thirty in the evening. That extended daylight is a gift for content, because it pushes golden hour late into the celebration, often landing it perfectly during the cocktail hour or the early part of dinner. The weather is warm and dependable without yet reaching the fierce heat of high summer. The sea has warmed enough to be inviting. And crucially, the island has not yet hit its absolute peak of crowds, so venues, planners, and suppliers are slightly less stretched than they will be in August. If you want long, luminous days, warm evenings, and a celebration that can run from afternoon into a starry night without rushing, June delivers all of it. It is the month I most often recommend to couples who want everything to feel effortless.

July and August: Peak Season Energy

July and August are the heart of the Ibiza summer, and they come with both the highest energy and the biggest considerations. This is when the island is at its most electric. The beach clubs are in full swing, the nights are warm enough to dance until dawn, and there is a glamour in the air that is unmistakably Ibiza. If you dream of a high energy, glamorous summer celebration, this is the season for it. But you must plan around the heat. Midday temperatures regularly climb into the thirties, and that affects everything from your guests' comfort to how the footage looks. Harsh overhead sun is the least flattering light there is. The solution is timing the ceremony for late afternoon or early evening, when the sun has dropped and the light turns golden. I always advise couples marrying in peak summer to schedule the ceremony no earlier than six in the evening. Book early too, because the best venues and suppliers fill up many months ahead for these dates.

September: My Personal Favourite

If a couple asks me to choose just one month, I almost always say September. It is the month that quietly has everything. The sea is at its warmest after a full summer of heating, so swimming and beach moments are glorious. The fierce edge of the August sun has softened, giving that warm, honeyed light that photographs and films beautifully. The island begins to exhale as the peak crowds thin out, which means a calmer, more intimate atmosphere without losing any of the warmth. The golden hour light in September is, in my honest opinion, the most cinematic of the entire year. I wrote about exactly where to capture it in my guide to the best venues for a sunset wedding. For couples who want warmth, beauty, and a little more breathing room, September is the sweet spot.

October and the Shoulder Season

October is the island letting go of summer, and it is genuinely romantic. The light turns lower and warmer, the fields shift towards gold and amber, and there is a reflective, intimate mood that suits smaller and more meaningful celebrations. Daytime temperatures are still pleasant, often in the low twenties, though the evenings start to cool, so a beautiful wrap or a plan for warm lighting at dinner becomes worth considering. The crowds have largely gone, which means the island feels like it belongs to you and your guests. The one honest caveat is weather variability. October can deliver day after day of flawless sunshine, or it can bring the first autumn rains. I always build a little flexibility into the timeline for October weddings so we can chase the best light whenever it appears. For couples who love a softer, golden, end of season feeling, it is a quietly magical choice.

Winter Weddings in Ibiza

Most people never imagine getting married in Ibiza between November and April, and that is exactly why a winter wedding here feels so special. The island is calm, the dramatic skies and moody sea create a completely different visual language, and the intimacy is profound. It will not be a swimming and sunbathing celebration, but for a small gathering with character, it can be unforgettable. I explored this fully in my dedicated guide to winter weddings in Ibiza, including how the shorter days actually work in your favour for content.

So When Should You Get Married in Ibiza?

There is no single perfect month, only the perfect month for the wedding you imagine. Choose May or June for fresh, green, long and luminous days. Choose July or August for high glamour and electric summer energy, planning carefully around the heat. Choose September for the most beautiful light of the year and a warm, calmer island. Choose October for a golden, intimate, end of season romance. And choose winter for something rare, quiet, and unexpectedly cinematic. Whatever you decide, the most important thing is to align the season with the feeling you want your wedding content to carry forever. Tell me the mood you are dreaming of, and I will tell you when the island wears it best.
