Cala Conta Beach
West facing turquoise water and dramatic rocky cliffs, Cala Conta is the most cinematic beach on Ibiza for ceremony and portrait content.
Cala Conta sits on the west coast looking toward the smaller islands of Sa Conillera and Bosc. The water is the most photographable shade of turquoise on Ibiza and the cliffs frame the bay perfectly for wide reel shots. Sunset hits the water and the rocks at the same time, producing two complementary backdrops in a single golden hour window. Cala Conta is a public beach so legal ceremonies require permits, but symbolic ceremonies and portrait sessions are unrestricted. Several beach restaurants in the area host post ceremony receptions.
Best Suited For
- ✦Symbolic beach ceremonies and elopements

Content Tips at Cala Conta Beach
Specific notes from filming weddings at this venue.
Arrive at Cala Conta by 17:00 in summer to scout angles before the light shifts. Tourist crowds peak between 13:00 and 17:00.
The northern rocky outcrop is the cleanest portrait backdrop. The cliff face catches warm light 30 minutes before sunset.
Use the shallow turquoise water for couple walking shots. Calf depth water reflects the sky and creates a dreamlike background.
Avoid the central beach for ceremonies. The view is the same and there are far fewer beachgoers in the rocky northern section.
Golden Hour Note
Cala Conta sunset turns the water from turquoise to orange in roughly 12 minutes. Plan portrait sequences to capture both states.
Capacity & Format
Permits required for legal ceremonies. Symbolic ceremonies up to 50 guests work well.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get legally married at Cala Conta beach?
Civil ceremonies on public beaches in Ibiza require municipal permits well in advance. Most couples opt for a symbolic ceremony at Cala Conta and complete the legal paperwork separately.
What is the best time of year for a Cala Conta wedding shoot?
May, June, and September produce the cleanest light and lower crowd density. July and August are stunning but require very early or post sunset shoots to avoid beachgoers.
Where can I host a reception after a Cala Conta ceremony?
Sunset Ashram on the cliff above and Cotton Beach Club in nearby Cala Tarida are the closest reception venues with full content access.
