The best place to propose in Ibiza is the Es Vedrà viewpoint at Mirador des Savinar, where the rock rises out of the sea in front of you. The rest of this list covers seven more spots, from the old town walls of Dalt Vila to the stone terraces of Punta Galera, with the hour that works at each one.

Mirador des Savinar
Best light: Golden hour, and the twenty minutes after
The classic. Es Vedrà rises straight out of the sea in front of you and the whole horizon is yours. It is also the most popular sunset viewpoint on the island, so propose ninety minutes before sunset if you want the frame to yourself. The final stretch of road is rough, so allow more time than the map says.
02 · Southwest coast
Cala d'Hort
Best light: Late afternoon into sunset
The beach directly below the viewpoint, with the same view from sea level. Warmer and softer than the mirador, and much easier to reach. The restaurants at the back of the beach make it simple to turn the proposal into dinner without going anywhere.
03 · Ibiza Town
Dalt Vila walls
Best light: Early evening, and after dark
The old town ramparts give you the harbour, the sea and the roofs of the town below. This is the spot for couples who want architecture rather than beach, and it is the only one on this list that works beautifully after the sun has gone.
04 · West coast, San José
Cala Comte rocks
Best light: Sunset
The flat rock shelves to the side of the main beach are where the island goes to watch the sun drop. Wide open water, small islands on the horizon, and the light hits people straight on rather than from behind. Very busy in August.
05 · Highest point of the island
Sa Talaia
Best light: Any hour, best in the afternoon
Ibiza laid out underneath you and Formentera in the distance. The reward for the drive is that almost nobody is there. Bring a jacket, it is noticeably cooler at the top than at the coast.
06 · North of Sant Antoni
Punta Galera
Best light: Sunset
Natural stone terraces stepping down into the sea, which look unlike anywhere else in the Mediterranean. It has a quiet, almost ceremonial feel. The rock is uneven, so it is not the spot if anyone is proposing in heels.
07 · Northwest, next to Cala Salada
Cala Saladeta
Best light: Late afternoon
Reached on foot from Cala Salada along a short coastal path. Turquoise water in a small cove with pines coming down to the sand. The walk is part of why it feels private, and part of why you should not plan it in the dark.
08 · South, salt flats and beach
Ses Salines
Best light: Golden hour
Long open sand, dunes and low light that stretches shadows out forever. Easy to reach, easy to leave, and easy for someone to be waiting at a distance with a camera without being obvious.

When is the best month to propose in Ibiza?
May, June, September and early October give warm evenings without peak season crowds. July and August are the busiest months on the island, which makes privacy harder at every viewpoint. Winter proposals are quiet and dramatic, but many beach spots have no facilities open and the light goes early.
