Hacienda Na Xamena Wedding: Cost, Spaces and Is It Worth It?

Ibiza's most magical clifftop venue, and one of its most expensive. What you pay, what you get, and who it really suits.

A wedding at Hacienda Na Xamena takes between 50 and 150 guests, runs from late April to October, and on the figures the venue has published starts with a rental of 5,500 to 9,000 euros plus 170 to 270 euros per guest for the menu. With the 50 adult minimum, venue and food alone start at around 14,000 euros. For 100 guests, expect roughly 22,500 to 36,000 euros before anything else.

I am going to be honest with you, because that is the only kind of guide worth reading. Na Xamena is one of my favourite places on this island, and it is also one of the most expensive. Both things are true. Here is what I know about it, so you can decide whether the magic is worth the price for your day.

What makes Na Xamena different

The hotel opened in 1971 on a cliff 180 metres above the sea, on the north coast above Port de Sant Miquel. It was built by the architect Daniel Lipszyc and is still run by the same family, and you can feel it: the place has grown terrace by terrace down the rock instead of being designed by a hotel chain.

Almost everything faces the open Mediterranean. There is no beach, no road and no neighbour between you and the horizon, only water. Its most photographed feature, the Cascadas Suspendidas, are pools that step down the cliff one below the other. The effect for your guests is that the whole wedding seems to happen suspended above the sea.

And it is a hotel, not a finca you rent for a night. Your guests can sleep where they celebrate, which changes the whole rhythm of the weekend.

The wedding spaces

Four spaces, each with a clear job in the day.

01 · Ceremony

The amphitheatre

An open air amphitheatre on the cliff, with your guests seated in tiers and the sea behind the two of you. It is the reason most couples choose this venue, and the frame that defines every film made here.

02 · Cocktail

The terrace

Drinks, canapés and tapas on the terrace straight after the vows. In summer this is when the light turns warm, so it is also when your guests take their best photos.

03 · Dinner and party

The lounge and its terrace

Dinner and dancing move to an Ibiza style lounge with its own terrace. Plan the evening around this, because the venue's listings say music is permitted indoors only.

04 · Up to 30 guests

Los Nidos

For a very small wedding or a private dinner, Los Nidos sits at the highest point of the hotel with a 360 degree view. It is the most intimate way to have Na Xamena to yourselves.

Is it worth it? The honest answer

Worth it if

  • The view is the point of your wedding. Nowhere else on Ibiza puts the whole ceremony above open sea like this.
  • You want your guests to stay on site. Around 70 rooms and suites means a large part of a 100 person wedding can sleep under the same roof, and a two or three day celebration becomes simple.
  • You have between 50 and 150 guests. That is exactly the range the venue is built for.
  • You want the hotel to run the day. Catering is in house and the events team handles the operation, which takes a lot off your plate.

Think twice if

  • You want a beach. There is no direct beach access, and the nearest beach is about seven minutes away by car.
  • You want to dance outdoors until sunrise. Music moves indoors and the listing gives 00:30 as the end of the celebration.
  • You have fewer than 50 guests and a tight budget. You pay the 50 adult minimum either way, so a smaller group pays for empty seats. Los Nidos or an elopement may suit you better.
  • Your date is in winter. The hotel opens from late April to the end of October.
  • Most of your guests fly in for one night. The airport is around half an hour away on winding roads, so transport needs planning.

How to get the most out of Na Xamena on camera

What I plan for at a clifftop venue like this one.

01

Time the ceremony to the light, not the clock

In the summer months the sun sets to the north west, out over the sea in front of the cliff. Set the ceremony so the cocktail lands on golden hour and the light does half the work. In late April or October the sun goes down further to the west, so ask the hotel where it sets on your exact date.

02

Film the getting ready in the rooms

Every room and suite has a jacuzzi with a sea view. That is the opening shot of your film already set up, before anyone has put a dress on.

03

Do the outdoor portraits before dinner

Because the party moves inside, the last outdoor moments are the cocktail and the walk to dinner. I plan couple portraits for the forty minutes before sunset, so nothing outside is left for the end of the night.

04

Bring flat shoes and a plan for the wind

The hotel is built down a cliff, so there are steps everywhere, and the north coast can be breezy. A second pair of shoes and a pinned veil save a lot of stress, and a lot of footage.

05

Ask about drones months ahead

Aerial shots need the hotel's permission, and the pilot must follow the Spanish AESA drone rules. Ask months before the wedding, not the week of it.

06

Bring the creative team you trust

The venue's listing says it does not impose its own photographer, music or florist, so you choose who tells your story. Catering is always the hotel's own.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a wedding at Hacienda Na Xamena cost?

On the figures the venue has published, rental starts at 5,500 or 9,000 euros depending on the package, and the menu runs from 170 to 270 euros per guest. A minimum of 50 adults is charged, so venue and food alone start at around 14,000 euros. For 100 guests, expect roughly 22,500 to 36,000 euros before planner, flowers, music, photography and rooms. Ask the hotel's events team for this season's quote.

How many guests can Hacienda Na Xamena host for a wedding?

The venue takes up to 150 guests for the ceremony and reception, with a paid minimum of 50 adults for its cocktail and full wedding packages. For very small celebrations, Los Nidos, a private space at the highest point of the hotel, takes up to 30 people.

Can wedding guests stay at Hacienda Na Xamena?

Yes. It is a working hotel with around 70 rooms and suites, most of them facing the sea, so a large part of the guest list can sleep on site. That makes a two or three day celebration much simpler than at a venue you rent for one night.

When can you get married at Hacienda Na Xamena?

The hotel opens from late April to the end of October and closes in winter. May, June and September give the best balance of warm evenings and fewer crowds on the island.

Is there a beach at Hacienda Na Xamena?

No. The hotel sits on a cliff 180 metres above the sea and has no direct beach access. The nearest beach is about seven minutes away by car. If a barefoot beach ceremony is part of your dream, this is not the venue for it.

Can I bring my own photographer or content creator to Hacienda Na Xamena?

According to the venue's listing, it does not impose its own photographer, music or florist, so you can bring the creative team you trust. Catering is always provided by the hotel.
